- ➤ American Legion Post 19 hosted a cake cutting party to mark 250 years of the Marine Corps in Yuma. Veterans and active duty Marines shared their stories while the oldest and youngest received the first cake slices—continuing a long-held military tradition. KYMA
- ➤ The Colorado River Crossing Balloon Festival returns to Yuma for its 35th year and will run from November 14 to November 16 at the Pacific Avenue Athletic Complex (Pacific Avenue and 8th Street) where locals can enjoy hot air balloon rides, food, and family events. Tethered rides will cost $25 per person. KYMA

- ➤ Get It In Gear, a local gym owned by master trainer Tony Silva, will close permanently in late January as he chooses to focus on his family—he has run the gym for nearly 29 years. An anniversary party scheduled on December 20th will honor its history. KYMA

- ➤ The Anza Trail Foundation will host expert Dr. Aaron Wright in a free lecture at Foothills Library on November 29 where he will explain the Indigenous geography and Spanish colonial expedition from 1775-1776. Attendees will learn how Indigenous guides helped navigate the challenges of the Sonoran and Mojave Deserts+ the event is part of the Anza250 Lecture Series. KYMA
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Yuma County is considering updating its food code to the new 2022 FDA standards that set revised temperature guidelines, require food handlers cards and training classes—measures aimed at preventing foodborne illnesses. The health district will host educational sessions to give local restaurants and food vendors ample time to adjust if the changes are approved. KYMA
