- ➤ Today, local volunteers from Benevolence in Action Ministry held a free food drive at American Legion Post 19—handing meals to hundreds of residents in need. A semi-truck with supplies arrived early and the ministry plans to hold the drive weekly as demand grows. KYMA
- ➤ Texas Roadhouse in Yuma is offering free meal vouchers to veterans and active military on November 11 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.—vouchers must be redeemed with proof of service until May 31. KYMA
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Arizona Western College is looking for a new president as Dr. Daniel Corr retires in July. The college held four town halls with candidate Rheetika Dhawan—an experienced internal candidate—to find a leader committed to supporting students and community growth. KYMA
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Yuma will hold a town hall on November 12 at the Yuma Main Library—spanning 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.—to discuss rising utility costs as Arizona Public Service rates may increase while the Residential Utility Consumer Office explains proposed rate changes. KYMA
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ On Friday at 10:15 a.m., the Southern Arizona Nurse Honor Guard held a Nightingale tribute at Yuma Gateway Park under the Hilton Garden Inn to honor nurses who had passed away. The ceremony unveiled a cleaned bench and plaque — symbolizing the care given by the honor guard — and included placing a white rose, ringing a triangle three times, and lighting then extinguishing a candle to mark their tribute.
