EDUCATION NEWS

  • Arizona Western College held its Fourth Annual Hispanics Serving Institutions summit in Yuma on October 24, inviting Hispanic students and university leaders from across Arizona to offer advice to new students; a pre-conference event (held October 23 in the 3C Breezeway) allowed participants to network before the summit.  KYMA

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Yuma County Water Users' Association reminded locals that dumping trash in canals, drainage ditches, access roads, or fields is illegal and harms water quality—residents should use designated dumping stations instead. General Manager Tom Davis stressed that as produce season begins, any dumping will be reported to county authorities—violators will be prosecuted.  KYMA

  • Imperial extended its win streak to nine with a 14-7 win over Brawley in a tight defensive game—Yuma earned its first win of the season while Yuma Catholic and Gila Ridge extended their road winning streaks.  KYMA
