Researchers, industry partners and local growers met at the University of Arizona Yuma Agricultural Center to test a new smart-farm network covering over 160,000 acres; the pilot project will install 24 of 34 planned towers to help farmers remotely manage irrigation, water pressure + equipment.
🚧 Accidents
Yuma business owner Charles “Chip” Romer and passenger Jennifer Luzzi died after their speeding 36-foot boat crashed into a rocky peninsula on Lake Havasu Saturday night — emergency responders arrived quickly, but both were pronounced dead.
🎓 Education
Onvida Health and AWC installed new exterior signage for the Health Careers Center on Sept.
15, marking progress for a hands-on facility in Yuma. The two-story center will finish construction in early 2027 and welcome students in the spring.
