- ➤ Today as temperatures cool in Yuma, police and experts say UTV drivers must register, insure and equip their vehicles with street-safe features such as headlights, wear seatbelts and follow traffic laws—while also taking a free safety course and using proper desert gear. KYMA
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Matilda the Musical will be held at the Historic Yuma Theatre at 254 S. Main Street from October 9-12. Performances will start at 7 p.m. on October 9-11 and 2 p.m. on October 12 - tickets cost $15. KYMA
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Arizona Western College was selected to join the Google AI Innovation Network—a three-year program that provides AI training and tools to support students and staff. As the first community college in the state chosen for the initiative, AWC will give enrolled students free access to select AI resources if they register by October 6th. Arizona Western College
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Locals in Yuma are asking for changes so that all multi-story buildings have elevator access—current rules only require elevators in larger buildings. The City Council postponed a vote last week and will decide on the new codes next week. KYMA

- ➤ Local organizations Onvida Health, Sunset Health and Yuma County Anti-Drug Coalition are partnering with local businesses this September—Suicide Prevention Awareness Month—to raise awareness about the 988 crisis hotline that offers 24/7 help and shares key warning signs through stickers, flyers and weekly videos.
