- ➤ A Yuma man — 36-year-old Jerry Miranda — who robbed Del Sol Market with a knife in March was sentenced in court Thursday to seven years behind bars after taking a plea deal, receiving credit for time served. KYMA
- ➤ A 24-year-old man from Yuma was arrested on a $75,000 bond for attempting to steal items from a dove hunter's truck on South Fortuna Road near the Comfort In and Pizza Hut—hunters confronted him and held him down until deputies arrived, and he will face three felony charges in court on Friday. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Wheel Fun Mountain Biking donated 15 mountain bikes to Gila Vista Junior High so that students can enjoy less screen time and more outdoor activity — the school plans to expand the program with two dedicated coaches and easy access to local parks and scenic desert trails. KYMA
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Yesterday, a local health care provider broke ground on the San Luis New Vida Birthing Center on Oak Avenue next to the San Luis Medical Mall. The $2.5 million project will offer baby delivery and neo-natal services and is expected to finish in February next year as stated by CEO Amanda Aguirre from the Regional Center for Border Health.
