EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Arizona Western Entrepreneurial College will offer an eight-week Electric Vehicle Service and Safety course at the Yuma Campus starting October 13 to prepare students for ASE technician certifications — the class meets Tuesday and Thursday afternoons and allows high school students to enroll concurrently at a reduced rate. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Officials from the International Boundary and Water Commission explained that falling water levels at Lake Powell and Glen Canyon Dam are threatening reliable water supply for farms and homes in Yuma County. Deputy Katrina Grantz said that if levels drop too low, the dam will use backup pipes—designed only for emergencies—to keep the river flowing. KYMA
- ➤ Deputy Mayor Carol Smith and Councilmember Chris Morris have been selected for the Civic Craft Leadership Program—a year-long event by the League of Arizona Cities and Towns that gathers 50 Arizona leaders to build local governance. They will use the program to bring new ideas and strengthen Yuma's voice on the statewide stage. KYMA
