  • On August 13, police and a SWAT team surrounded a home at 24th Lane and Union Drive near Gila Ridge High School—engaging the suspect for several hours before apprehending him at about 10:40 p.m.  KYMA

  • Today, the Greater Yuma Port Authority is planning changes—like a truck by-pass route, a $240,000 port technology upgrade, and steps to become financially independent—to speed border crossings and boost trade. Yuma County Supervisor Tony Reyes said trade with Mexico affects all of Yuma and emphasized the importance of these updates.  KYMA

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Yuma County is reviewing plans to change over 40 acres at Highway 95 and Martinez Lake Road for a retirement community - a planned unit development that would mix residential and commercial uses. The county is accepting input from residents until the public meeting on September 4 at 6 p.m. at the Department of Development Services Building.  KYMA
