  • A man alleged to have shot at a YCSO helicopter carrying three deputies on June 13 faces seven charges — including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, endangerment and disorderly conduct — and he will appear in court on June 30.  KYMA

  • Local experts at U of A Cooperative Extension say farmers plant wheat in January and harvest it in June to break the cycle of planting the same crop—this rotation helps keep soil healthy for winter produce.  KYMA

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • With the Fourth of July near, local officials urged Yuma residents to use fireworks safely by following tips such as wearing gloves and keeping water nearby—officials stressed not to relight failed fireworks or use them near dry brush. The fireworks sale began Tuesday, June 24 and will run until July 6.  KYMA

HEALTH NEWS

  • With triple-digit temperatures affecting Yuma, the Fire Department advises hikers to plan outdoor activities during cooler parts of the day—hike early or late, bring extra water and a charged phone, and let someone know your route.  KYMA
