Good morning, Yuma.

Somerton will break ground on downtown improvements on the week of June 22, starting a nearly $3 million project that will upgrade sidewalks, add an arched entry monument, new landscaping, and seating areas on Main Street between State Street and Somerton Avenue.

Construction is expected to last four months, and officials say the plan will help support community growth.

Residents can beat the triple-digit heat today with cooling centers + water stations from nonprofits and local libraries; Crossroads Mission is offering donated water while officials urge everyone to stay hydrated and avoid outdoor activity during peak hours.
