COMMUNITY NEWS

  • El Charro Cafe is hosting a fundraiser for longtime waitress Maria Ruan and her husband Cesar, whose hotel and travel costs are rising while Cesar recovers. The two-day event will take place next Thursday and Friday at the restaurant.  KYMA

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Yuma gas prices dropped by less than 20 cents this week, giving slight relief as prices average $4.74 per gallon — still cheaper than in California — though Arizona remains among the priciest states; locals are advised to drive hybrids and drop extra weight to save fuel.  KYMA

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Yuma School District One will offer free breakfast and lunch for children under 18 at six schools from June 1 until July 17, except July 3. Breakfast is from 8 to 9 a.m. and lunch from 11:30 to 12:30, and adults may buy meals for $3 at breakfast & $5 at lunch.  KYMA
