Good morning, Yuma.
🏘️ Community
Yuma County seniors celebrate today at the Yuma Civic Center during 'In the Glow' Grad Night—an indoor, drug-free event hosted by the Yuma County Anti-Drug and Mental Health Coalitions—coinciding with graduation ceremonies starting at 8 p.m. on livestream.
🏛️ Government
Memorial Day weekend is busy at Martinez Lake and the Yuma County Sheriff's Office is increasing patrols to enforce boat safety and prevent fires—measures prompted by last year's flare gun incident that burned over 1,000 acres.
Deputy Jairo Cardenas and Sheriff Leon Wilmot will educate boaters and check for violations—including impaired driving—to ensure every boat meets safety standards.
The Yuma Police Department is stepping up patrols for Memorial Day weekend—officers will be on duty through Monday to target impaired drivers and keep roads safe.
Some locals plan to relax at home while others celebrate, knowing the extra patrols may help prevent accidents.
