ECONOMY NEWS

  • APS is seeking a 14% rate increase this year, with residents worried that higher bills will affect their ability to cover daily needs. The Arizona Corporation Commission will decide the proposal this fall as community members submit their comments online.  KYMA

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The City of Yuma is asking local businesses and clubs to donate school supplies to fill 2,000 backpacks for the Back to School Rodeo on July 11 — donations are accepted until the end of June.  KYMA
  • Fourth Avenue Junior High students worked with a local construction company to convert a conex box into a functional office, with Pilkington Construction advising on electrical systems, windows, and walls. The project aims to inspire careers and plans more similar ventures next school year—sparked by the school’s first construction project.  KYMA
