COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Crossroads Mission held its 5th annual drive-thru barbecue fundraiser today to support its upcoming 'Center of Hope' project that will build a new men's shelter in Yuma — community members and local businesses purchased $10 plates to help fund meals and support services.  KYMA
  • Residents at Westwind RV & Golf Resort have faced extended power outages that left them without air conditioning and raised concerns about heat illnesses as summer temperatures approach. Management has reportedly been reluctant to invest in fixes, and further updates are expected.  KYMA

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Arizona Western College held its largest graduation ceremony Friday night at Veterans Memorial Stadium, awarding more than 3,200 degrees and certificates. Graduates from AWC and local partners (including high school students in the Dual Credit program) celebrated a historic academic milestone.  KYMA
  • More than 30 students from EOC Charter High School participated in a career day at City Hall where department heads explained job duties and education paths (focusing on public works and communications) to help them explore city careers.  KYMA

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Tonight, the Fraternal Order of Police held its 49th annual Memorial Day Service to honor fallen and current officers in our community. The Yuma Police Department Honor Guard performed a 21-gun salute as local leaders paid tribute to those who protect us.  KYMA
