  • Stephen Swift, an Oregon cyclist raising cancer awareness and two-time survivor, was injured on a contracting job and is recovering in Yuma after severing a finger. Community group Accion Chicana and local residents provided food, water and basic necessities as he gets ready to return home with his cat Cali.  KYMA

ECONOMY NEWS

  • The Yuma labor force shrank 6.9% over the past year as more 65+ residents retired, with retired residents now making up 15 to 19 percent of the population; experts say this trend may lead to a future workforce gap.  KYMA

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The San Luis Port of Entry now has eight open lanes with eight more set to open in spring as construction continues to improve local access—Mayor Nieves Riedel says the changes will boost local businesses, and reporter Adrik Vargas will provide more details later today.  KYMA
