  • On Friday morning, crews from Rural Metro and the Yuma Fire Department battled a massive fire at a business near 13th Street and Engler Avenue—multiple power outages were reported in the area as investigators looked into the cause.  AZ Family
  • A fire broke out on Friday morning at an auto parts shop on Engler Avenue near 13th Street, injuring one worker who was taken to Onvida Health and two firemen as Rural Metro Fire and Yuma Fire contained a blaze that spread to crushed cars and chemicals — the cause remains under investigation.  KYMA

CRIME NEWS

  • At 9:30 a.m. Friday, Yuma Police Department responded to a report of a suspicious man near 4th Avenue Junior High School whose backpack was believed to contain firearms, triggering lockdowns at Yuma High, Mary E. Post and Roosevelt—later it was revealed that the backpack only held toy guns and there was no threat to public safety.  KYMA
