- ➤ Woodard Junior High School in Yuma celebrated its retention as an AVID National Demonstration School on Wednesday—an honor held by only about 2% of AVID campuses nationwide. - ➤ Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes will attend a town hall meeting on Wednesday, May 14 at 5:30 p.m. at the Yuma Arts Center, 254 S. Main St. to discuss proposed federal budget cuts and DOGE funding cuts affecting residents—those impacted may share their stories. KYMA
- ➤ Yuma Fire Department reported a record 441 emergency calls in one week — 100 above its normal average — as limited staffing and increased overtime stretch its resources in a growing community. The department will soon begin recruiting new firefighters and EMTs and is adjusting resources to keep up with rising call volumes while seeking additional funding. KYMA
