EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Enrique Diaz from Kofa High School received a $20,000 El Valle Puede Scholarship funded by the Helios Foundation & other Arizona organizations to support his nursing school studies. He is one of five seniors awarded the chance to further their education. KYMA
- ➤ Arizona Western College opened the Future48 Workforce Accelerator in Wellton on May 6, a 5600 sqft facility built for hands-on training in electrical technology, advanced manufacturing, broadband fiber optics and solar installation. The center received a $3.6 million investment from the Arizona Commerce Authority to boost local workforce innovation. Arizona Western College
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ During Wednesday night's meeting at City Hall, the Yuma City Council approved proclamations recognizing Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women Day and named the new Public Safety Evidence Storage Facility after fallen officer Lt. Daniel Elkins (a tribute that brought local community members together). Community attendees wore red in support. KYMA
