  • Local businesses hosted the third annual Desert Coast Growers Invitational Golf Tournament in Yuma last Friday with over 20 teams raising funds for Amberly's Place to continue community services, and Executive Director Tori Bourguignon said the event fills funding gaps as federal grants face cuts & support remains essential.  KYMA
  • Firefighters are training along the Colorado River to prepare for summer water rescue emergencies. More than 120 Yuma Fire Department members spend six days practicing CPR, river rescues, and floating rope drills + using GPS-linked mile markers from the Gila River to Cocopah RV Resort.  KYMA

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Driving the Vote for Equality tour stopped at the Yuma Main Library today to honor suffragists Alice Burke and Nell Richardson, who drove a Saxon motorcar across the country in 1916 for voting rights (their journey inspires today’s advocacy). City Councilmember Karen Watts highlighted her ongoing support for equality.  KYMA

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gas prices in Yuma rose from $4.63 to about $4.75 per gallon early this week, putting more strain on local drivers. Experts say global tensions may keep fuel costs high, making refueling in the area more expensive.  KYMA
