Gila Ridge Student Council is hosting a 5K walk and run at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Saturday from 7 to 11 a.m. as participants pay a cash-only fee (students $10, others $15) to benefit the Advokate Foundation supporting families affected by childhood cancer.

Kofa High School law and public safety advisor Eric Frost was named SkillsUSA Arizona Advisor of the Year after being nominated by students and his instructional leader Kylie Mackall.
