ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A series of deadly plane crashes in the U.S. in 2025 has left some Yuma residents uneasy about flying after 19 fatal incidents—including a January midair collision that killed 67 and a small plane crash that claimed six lives—while aviation experts maintain that flying is still safer than traveling by road given the daily toll of car accidents.  KYMA

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Crane Elementary School District in Yuma increased wages by 2% today, raising the minimum wage from $15.00 to $15.15 and setting first-year teacher pay above $60,000. Since 2016, wage increases of 53% for educators and 42% for non-classroom staff have underscored the district's efforts to help employees manage rising living costs—providing much-needed support.  KYMA

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Yuma Sector Border Patrol plans a new immigration checkpoint along Interstate 8 to replace the outdated checkpoint near Telegraph Pass that closed in October 2023 after a truck crash injured eight—this relocation will improve monitoring of traffic and help agents curb illegal crossings, drug smuggling, and weapons trafficking.  AZ Family
