- ➤ A 38-year-old man named Anthony Morgan Herrera was found dead in a home on Del Verde Drive after shots were reportedly fired on April 17 at 3:36 a.m. according to the Yuma County Sheriff's Office. KYMA
- ➤ A man was fatally shot during a domestic dispute early Thursday morning at a home on Del Verde Drive in Yuma and police said efforts to revive him failed after deputies arrived around 3:30 a.m. (he was identified as 38-year-old Anthony Morgan Herrera). AZ Family
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Yuma has seen a more than 10% rise in hotel development since 2019, with nearly 40 hotels operating now and plans for 12 new hotels and almost 4,968 rooms in the coming years. Local tourism officials say the growth has already created over 150 hotel-related jobs and supports 6.8% of the workforce, totaling about 6,200 people. KYMA

- ➤ The US Border Patrol is planning a new checkpoint near Yuma on Interstate 8 near the Mohawk Region to replace a Foothills checkpoint that crashed over a year ago and injured two agents—one agent is back on duty while the other is still recovering. The project will cost over $100,000,000 and Border Patrol reminds visa holders to carry their official documentation as no construction timetable has been set. KYMA
