EDUCATION NEWS

  • A new four-day Master Irrigator course begins in Yuma to boost water conservation by providing practical training with tools like moisture sensors & drip systems, organized by the Agribusiness & Water Council & the UA Cooperative Extension with bilingual support amid drought conditions along the Colorado River.  KYMA

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • MCAS Yuma will conduct the Semper Durus exercise from Monday, April 20 through Friday, April 24 to test its command and support capabilities against potential threats. The exercise will increase security with more first responders and temporary traffic delays around the base — notice provided by officials.  KYMA

HEALTH NEWS

  • Onvida Health received a $500,000 grant from the Arizona Department of Veterans’ Services to expand care for local veterans (including Native Americans). The funding will boost behavioral health programs and provide new training for staff, with expanded services planned for this summer.  KYMA
  • Onvida Health is expanding veteran behavioral health support in Yuma with a $500,000 grant from the Arizona Department of Veterans’ Services — which covers Native American veterans — to strengthen its Inpatient Behavioral Health Center and Intensive Outpatient Program by adding a trauma-informed mental health counselor.  AZ Family
