- ➤ Walmart’s garden center on Pacific Avenue will host a Mother’s Day celebration on May 10 at 10 a.m.—kids can plant seeds and make cards while gifts starting at $5 are available. Everyone is invited to join and celebrate moms on their special day. KYMA
- ➤ Yuma Catholic High School is hosting a giveaway to win a 1933 Ford Hi-Boy Custom Roadster—tickets cost $200 with only 500 available and the event will be held on May 3. KYMA
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Rural Metro responded just after 3:00 p.m. Monday to a fire in a garage in Mesa Del Sol that left the garage a complete loss though the house remained intact—and no one was injured. KYMA
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A man suspected of multiple home burglaries in Mesa Del Sol was found on April 12 after deputies received a tip about a stolen vehicle near E. 47th Lane — Yuma County Sheriff's Office arrested 40-year-old Miguel Angel Soqui on charges including burglary, theft, criminal damage, trespass, parole violation, drug offenses and weapon charges. - ➤ On March 26, Arizona Western Entrepreneurial College celebrated seven students who earned NCCER certificates after 140 hours of carpentry training. Registration for the next session runs from May 16 to July 19 at the AWC Reskilling and Technology Center — tuition assistance is available through AZ@WORK. Arizona Western College
- ➤ Governor Hobbs proclaimed April as Arizona Community College Month on April 15—recognizing the role community colleges play in workforce development and education.
