- ➤ On April 8, U.S. Border Patrol agents stopped an SUV at the Highway 86 checkpoint near Westermorland—arresting two women who tried to smuggle two unaccompanied minors from Mexico. KYMA
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ City mayor Nieves Riedel said she removed the public comment segment from recent San Luis council meetings after a heated exchange led to disruptions, and she reinstated it later that night. About 10 residents protested with signs — the mayor now plans to restore the call to public comments at the beginning of future meetings. KYMA
- ➤ The Yuma County Board of Supervisors approved installing seven new broadband towers, raising the total to 34 to boost high-speed internet for agriculture and support advanced technology use. The project will cost around $7 million. KYMA
