- ➤ Yuma High School student Eniah Endriga was named the sole 2026 National STEM Champion after her project on reducing wildfire risks from invasive weeds was recognized nationally; she will travel to Washington in June to present her research. KYMA
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ State data shows SNAP enrollment fell nearly 400,000 participants in Yuma over the past year after the One Big Beautiful Bill Act passed in July 2025 as staffing shortages and wait times made it harder to apply — Governor Hobbs allocated over $7 million in December to upgrade offices. KYMA
- ➤ San Luis officials will vote Tuesday night on an emergency resolution to rename Cesar Chavez Day to Farm Workers Day—set to take effect immediately ahead of March 31’s observance. A broader review may see additional landmarks and a school considered for renaming. AZ Family
