  • Hans Schmidt will visit Yuma on Sunday, March 1 at 10:30 a.m. to share his survival story after being shot while preaching at Potter's House of Yuma (902 S. 6th Ave.). He will detail his journey of faith, healing and forgiveness for locals seeking inspiration.  KYMA

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The sixth annual Desert Southwest Transfer Conference will run from March 2-5 at AWC Yuma Campus, offering workshops and fairs to help students and alumni transfer to university + a career session with Nicki Joiner on March 4 from 2 to 3 p.m.  Arizona Western College
  • Tom Horne visited Desert View Academy this week to honor its academic success with an Exemplary Academic Achievement Award; math, English, and science scores exceeded state averages. The school will host an Enrollment Carnival on Saturday, Feb. 28 from 8 to 11 a.m. (Families may enroll and tour the campus.)  KYMA
