- ➤ Monday, Jan. 19, Yuma’s Border Patrol Sector remembered Agent Luis Aguilar, who was killed while trying to stop a suspected smuggler in the Imperial Sand Dunes; he is survived by his wife, two children, his parents and his brother. KYMA

- ➤ Kofa High’s MCJROTC advanced to the Service Championships after its rifle team placed 12th of 184 at the Marine Corps Postal in November. Senior Mildreth Hernandez became the first marksman to finish in the top 10 by placing 10th of 867 shooters — she will compete in nationals in February. KYMA
